In the final reading today, the Saeima will decide on changes to the Education Law, so that students can opt out of learning Russian as a second foreign language, the Press Service of the Saeima informs.

In the final reading, the deputies will decide on the amendments to the Criminal Law, which is intended to establish criminal liability for an attempt to influence the election results with the help of deep falsification technology.

In the second reading, the Saeima will consider changes to the Law on the Circulation of Alcoholic Beverages, which stipulates that alcohol can be purchased from the age of 20, as well as limit the period of its sale.

In the first reading, deputies will discuss the changes to the law, which envisages setting additional requirements for managers and employees of children’s camps. Also, in the first reading, the deputies will see the changes in the law, which provides for a scholarship during the improvement of professional competence for educators who have obtained a teacher’s qualification in the second cycle higher education study program based on the work environment.

The Saeima will also have to decide on the submission of several new draft laws for consideration by commissions. Among them are amendments to the law, which, among other things, provide for the mandatory civil liability insurance of the owner of a land vehicle, or OCTA, to be extended to electric scooters as well. Also, the deputies will decide on the submission of the draft law on crypto-asset services and related bills to commissions. They intend to determine the operation of the crypto-asset market in Latvia.

The draft decision on the new European Union (EU) Asylum and Migration Pact submitted by the deputies is also on the agenda.

The Legal Commission of the Saeima has asked to supplement the agenda of the session with changes in the law and to see them in the first reading, so that the holder of the EU blue card could stay for a certain period of time in the country of citizenship or previous residence, without proving a reason justifying the absence.

The Cabinet of Ministers, on the other hand, has asked to include the draft law on the dismissal of the Rēzekne City Council in the agenda.
