Offense Carries Baseball Past Muhlenberg, 13-5

Center Valley, PA (April 30, 2024) – The DeSales University baseball team totaled 17 hits leading to a 13-5 win over local rival Muhlenberg College on Tuesday afternoon at Weiland Park.

The win is DSU’s fifth straight over the Mules improving DeSales to 22-12-1 all-time vs. Muhlenberg.

After falling down 2-0 in the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs scored five times in the bottom half of the inning to lead 5-2.

Senior Zachary Zuchowski hit solo home runs in the second and fourth innings to push the lead up to 8-2.

Leading 9-4, DSU put the game away with three more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

First-year Owen Geng got the win pitching five strong innings allowing just two unearned runs, striking out three.

First-year Matt Worek led the offense going 4-for-5 at the plate. Zuchowski finished with three hits, four runs scored, and three RBIs.

Sophomore JT Anderosky added two more hits to his season total (71) and also scored twice and knocked in two runs. Sophomores Owen Frye and John Rorick each had two hits.

DSU game tomorrow at Scranton has been canceled meaning the Bulldogs will return to action on Friday for game one of the MAC Freedom postseason tournament series at Misericordia with first pitch set for 3:30 pm.
