On Tuesday, the cyclists covered 190 kilometers with a category three climb near the middle of the distance.

Four kilometers before the finish there was a smaller climb, about 1800 meters long with a gradient of 4.4%. Before that, the breakaway cyclists were caught and the Italian Filippo Ganna (“Ineos Grenadiers”) immediately attacked.

However, about half a kilometer before the finish, the peloton also caught Gann, and the stage winner was determined in the sprint to the finish. Milan (“Lidl – Trek”) was the first to cross the finish line, while Australian Kayden Groves (“Alpecin – Deceuninck”) and German Phil Bauhaus (“Bahrain – Victorious”) also entered the top three.

The big group finished in four hours, 16 minutes and three seconds, with Ganna at the tail end. Pogachar (UAE) also finished at the same time as the winners and the closest competitors.

After the fall in this stage, the Eritrean cyclist Binjam Girmaj (“Intermarche – Wanty”), who won the third place in the previous stage, ended the tour.

In the overall standings, Pogachar is 46 seconds ahead of second-leader Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers), while Colombian Daniel Felipe Martinez (Bora-hansgrohe) is one second behind.

The 107th “Giro d’Italia” cycling race will end on May 26 in Rome.

Latvian cyclists are not participating in the bike ride this time.

Last year, Slovenian cyclist Primož Rogličs became the winner of the “Giro d’Italia”, while Toms Skujiņš, the debutant of the competition, who ranked second in one of the stages and third in one, as well as accumulated the most points in the intermediate sprint finishes, took 31st place.
