“This is not the team that last played in the top division of the world championship in 2002. It is a completely different team, which can cause more than one surprise in the tournament,” complimented the Swedish media.
“Hockey is at a high level in Poland, but unfortunately for Polish fans and the media, this sport is not the most important sport in the country. And Polish domestic league matches are rarely seen on TV, but after the world championship this could definitely change,” adds “Rakapuckar”.
Also, the Swedish media believes that Poland does not pose a big threat to anyone on “paper”: “However, different scenarios are possible in the championship and unpredictable days for others, and Poland has also shown its level by reaching the top division.”
The World Hockey Championship will be held in the Czech cities of Prague and Ostrava from May 10 to 26. Latvian hockey players will play in one group against the national teams of France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and the USA.
