Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) have extended the contract of head coach Jason Kidd, https://twitter.com/townbrad/status/1787458192743502196 club.

The 51-year-old kid is leading the Mavericks for the third season and is currently participating in the playoffs with the team. In its statement, the Dallas team only stated that the agreement with Kidd was extended for “several years”, without revealing the specific term of the contract.

“I’ve known Jason for a long time and I can’t think of a better, more qualified candidate to lead this team,” Mavs general manager Nico Harrison commented on the continuation of the partnership. “As a former NBA Champion and Hall of Famer, Jason brings a wealth of unique experience and knowledge to the team. He has earned our trust and respect, as well as that of other players in the league. I hope we can continue to work on strengthening the foundations of our culture and success that he has helped build as the team’s head coach.”

“Mavericks” 2021/2022. In the season of 2011, which was Kidd’s first year at the helm of the team, they won 52 victories in 82 games in the regular season and reached the finals of the Western Conference in the play-offs, where the supremacy of the future champions Golden State Warriors was recognized. It should be reminded that Kristaps Porzingis was part of Dallas at the beginning of the season, who was later traded for Davai Bertans and Spencer Dinwiddie to the Washington “Wizards”.

The Mavericks experienced a major disappointment last season. Despite the dazzling performance of Luka Doncic and the trade of Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks did not make the playoffs with a 38-44 record. In the offseason, Dallas replaced Bertanas, remaining without Latvians in the lineup for the first time since 2019, but this year’s 50-32 record allowed them to rank fifth in the West. In the first round of the play-offs, the Mavs beat the Los Angeles Clippers 4-2 and will meet the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round.

Kidd, who had a great career as a player, started working as a coach in 2013, becoming the captain of the Brooklyn Nets. Kidd took over the reins of the Milwaukee Bucks the following season, coaching the team until January 2018, when he was fired. A year and a half later, Kidd joined the Los Angeles Lakers as an assistant coach, which was also his last stop before moving to Dallas.

In 2011, Kidd became the NBA champion as a player, and in 2020 with the Lakers – as a coach.
