“McLaren” pilot Piastri had initially risen to the second position, but lost positions after the pit stops and fought with Sainz for the fourth place for a long time. In one of the episodes, Piastri aggressively defended himself from a competitor’s attack, forcing the representative of “Ferrari” to go slightly off the track. The judges did not see any foul play. Sainz was upset about it and wanted to rise even higher. During the overtaking, his vehicle skidded, breaking the competitor’s front fender with the rear right wheel.

The judges concluded that Sainz braked too late, but was left with enough space on the track, and as a result is to blame for causing the collision. Taking into account extenuating circumstances, the Spaniard was awarded only a five-second penalty and one penalty point. This dropped the athlete from fourth to fifth place in their Miami GP results. “Red Bull” pilot Sergio Perez moved up a position. Piastri had to pit after the collision and did not win any points.

Meanwhile, Kevin Magnussen received two penalty points for the collision with Logan Sargent on the 28th lap. Causing a competitor to crash into the barrier, the safety car went on the track, which created a favorable situation for Lando Norris, giving the “McLaren” pilot the opportunity to make a pit stop at the right moment and later win the first victory of his career. Two penalty points for the “Haas” pilot for the collision. On the other hand, before that, Magnussen had received three penalty points in the sprint. Therefore, he currently has ten penalty points in a 12-month period – two more and a ban from participating in the next F1 round will follow.
