Semenistaja reaches the quarterfinals of the ITF W-100 series tournament in Germany

Semenistaja, who is ranked 113th in the world and seeded fourth in the competition, beat Poland’s Gina Feistel (WTA 609) 6-7 (6-8), 7-5, 6-2, who qualified before entering the main tournament.

The Polish woman started the game with her serve, but Smenistaja won the game. Feistel broke back in the eighth game to make it 4-4.

In the 11th game, Latvia’s second racket won, but in the next game, she was unable to close the set with her serve and lost 6:8 in the tiebreak.

Semenistaja started the second set with a serve, losing the game, but recovered in the next game. From the seventh to the tenth game, the opponents lost their service games, the result remained tied – 5-5.

The 12th game became decisive, in which Latvia’s second racket won three set balls in a row, turning the third into a point.

In the third set, which Semenistaja started with a serve, the Latvian tennis player won in the fourth game by serving her opponent.

In the eighth game, Semenistaja used the sixth match point.

For reaching the quarterfinals, the Latvian tennis player earned 21 WTA ranking points.

In the first round, Semenistaja defeated Raluk Šerban (WTA 186), representing Cyprus and born in Romania, 6-4, 6-1.

In the fight for entry into the semi-finals, Semenistaja’s opponent will be the Slovenian Veronika Erjavec (WTA 169), who has overcome the qualification, who defeated the host Nastasja Shunka (WTA 599) 6-0, 6-2 in the round of 16.

On Tuesday, in the doubles competition, Semenistaya and Georgian Natela Dzalamidze, the third seeds of the tournament, defeated the specially invited duet Nina Andronika (Cyprus)/Katlīna Kaneva (Germany) 6-4, 6-2.

In the quarterfinals, the Latvian/Georgian pair will meet the main favorites of the competition – Oksana Kalashnikova from Georgia and Jana Sizikova from Russia.

Competitions take place on clay courts.
