The Munich Documentary Film Festival is the largest documentary film festival in Germany and one of the main forums for European documentary cinema, whose beginnings can be traced back to 1985, and since then the festival has developed as a film festival for a wide audience, which in its program pays attention to socially important topics and artistically high-quality documentary cinema.

The festival has highlighted diversity and diversity, inclusion and equality of opportunities as its values, this year special focus is also on the theme of democracy. The program of the 39th festival selected 109 films from 51 different countries and the program was formed from more than 1,300 films submitted to the festival, of which 28 will be world premieres and 51 films will be German premieres. At the 39th Munich Documentary Film Festival, the Latvian film “Patricia” is shown in the “Dok.Panorama” section, which includes innovative documentaries from different countries of the world, which stand out with diverse stories and discoveries of the modern world.

The film “Patricia” is a long-term documentary observation, and it tells about the best Latvian skier of all time, Patricija Eidukas, and her family – a father who prepares his daughter for the Olympic Games from a young age, brothers who become her support, about life’s trials, behind the scenes of sports and new a woman’s willpower.

The film’s directors are Dāvids Ernsthreits and Inese Kļava, chief cameraman Normunds Pavlovskis, editing director Inese Kļava, composer Otto Auniņš, sound director Artis Lūsis, producers Elīna Gediņa-Ducena and Gints Grūbe. The film was made in the film studio “Mistrus Media” and was made with the support of the National Cinema Center and Latvian Television.

The film premiered in Latvia on March 19 and can still be seen in Latvian cinemas, it is also included in the May 4th cinema marathon of the National Cinema Center and will be shown in the “Splendid Palace” cinema. The film has already received positive evaluations from the audience and positive evaluations from critics, it was also nominated for the National Cinema Award “Lielais Kristaps” as the best documentary film of the year. In June, it will also be possible to watch the film on the streaming platforms “LMT Viedtelevizijas”, “Tet TV+” and “Go3”, as well as watch “Kino Bize” films for rent.

The film “Patricia” was made in the film studio “Mistrus Media”, where Inese Kļava and Dāvids Ernstreits are making the documentary television series “Tas dinja sieti”. ), “The spy who is my father” (directors Jāks Kilmī, Gints Grūbe), “My father the banker” (director Ieva Ozoliņa) “Escaping Riga” (director Dāvis Sīmanis), “Homo Sovieticus” (director Ivo Briedis), “Paaules sound” (directors Dāvis Sīmanis, Gints Grūbe).
