This weekend, on May 4 and 5 in Portugal, the fifth round of the World Championship and the third stage of the European Morocross Championship will take place at the Agueda motor track. Five Latvian motocross riders – Paul Jonas, Edvards Bidzāns, Kārlis Alberts Reišulis, Markuss Ozoliņš and Jēkabs Kubuliņš – will take part in this stage.

After the first four stages of the world championship in motocross, which took place in Argentina, Spain, two of them in Italy – Sardinia and Trentino, the leader of the MXGP class standings is Jorge Prado (219 points), the second Tim Gajser (206 points), the third Romain Febvre (174), fourth is Jeffrey Herling (164 points) and Paul Jonas (142 points), who completes the TOP5 of the MXGP class.

Paul Jonas (“Standing Construct Honda MXGP team”) will compete in the prestigious MXGP class in Portugal.

In the EMX250 class, Kārlis Alberts Reišulis (“VRT Yamaha Racing”), who is currently 10th after the first two rounds of the European Championship in Spain and Italy, and Edvards Bidzāns (“KMP HONDA RACING TEAM POWERED BY KRETTEK”), who is 33rd overall, will compete. position. Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis (“VRT Yamaha Racing”), who is currently the highest in the results table – in 7th place, due to an injury, will not start at this stage of the European Championship either.

In the EMX125 class, Markuss Ozoliņš (private), who after the first two rounds of the European Championship, which took place in Italy, takes 12th place, and Jēkabs Kubuliņš (“Kristers Serģa Motoklubbs”), for whom this is the first round of the European Championship this year.

On Saturday, there will be MXGP qualifying races, and on Sunday, two final races in each class. We invite you to follow the GO3 sports channel, which will broadcast the Motocross World Championship.

We would like to remind you that on June 8-9 in Ķegum, Latvia, the ninth stage of the Motocross World Championship and the sixth stage of the European Championship (EMX125 and EMX250) will take place at the “Zelta Zirgs” motor track.
