The final series of the “Optibet” indoor football super league begins with the victory of “RFS Futsal”.

On Wednesday, RFS Futsal won the first match of the final series of the “Optibet” Latvian Indoor Football Premier League in a shootout.

“RFS Futsal” team fought to a draw 3:3 (1:2) with “Riga” in the regular time, no goals were scored in extra time, but “RFS Futsal” prevailed 4:2 in the series of shots after the game, taking the lead with 1- 0.

Having successfully bypassed all the defenders, Ricardinha put Ricardinha in the lead at the beginning of the half, but Edgars Tarakanov achieved a draw. Later, Viktors Kulepovs restored the one-goal lead for “Riga”. At the beginning of the second half, Tarakanov equalized the result for the second time in the match, but less than eight minutes before the end of the regular time, Andrejs Baklanov put RFS in the lead for the first time in the match. “Riga” tied again less than two minutes before the final whistle, when Mick Babris sent the ball into his own goal after Kulepov’s shot.

As the regular time ended in a draw, no more goals were scored in overtime, but RFS Futsal celebrated a 4:2 victory in the penalty shootout.

The participants of the gold medal series have already met four times this season, with “Riga” winning all of them and also winning the Latvian Cup and the Latvian Super Cup.

On the other hand, in the series for the third place, in the first match, Kuldīga “Nikers” beat the Jēkabpils “Lūši”/”Ošukalns” team 10:3 (4:2) and took the lead with 1-0 in the series up to two wins. In the Kuldiga team, Renards Údris and Krists Krūmiņš stood out with four goals, while Toms Bergmanis scored twice in the opponent’s goal. Oskars Zeps scored two goals for the Jēkabpils team, while Rainers Ragainis scored once.

In the main tournament between the teams of “Nikers” and “Lūši”/”Ošukalns”, the first match ended with 4:4, while the second match was won by “Nikers” with 5:4. In the main tournament, the current champion “Riga” won the first place, which won all the games, “RFS Futsal” was second, “Nikers” – fourth, and the Jēkabpils team – sixth.

In the quarter-finals, “Riga” beat “Rapa”/FPA 2-0 in the series, RFS – “Salaspils FA”, “Nikers” – “Nice”/”Otankimill”, but Jēkabpils “Lūši”/”Ošukalns” defeated ” TFK Salaspils”.

In the semi-finals, “Riga” defeated Jēkabpils footballers 3-0, while “RFS Futsal” defeated “Nikers”.

The final fight will last up to three victories, and in the series in the fight for bronze medals – up to two successes.
