“Liverpool” controlled the ball a lot in the first half (71%-29%), but there were problems with creating chances – apart from Luis Diaz’s shot, after which the ball hit the post, West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola had little to do. Meanwhile, the hosts were able to use one of their rare opportunities – in the 43rd minute, after a quick corner kick, the most skillful player in the penalty area was Jarrod Bowen, who scored his 16th goal this season.

After the break, the Liverpool team rallied, and in the 48th minute the result was a draw – defender Andrew Robertson made a shot from the edge of the penalty area, and after a very unsuccessful play by Areola, the ball flew into the bottom corner of the goal. The continuation of the match also gave the impression that “Liverpool” will have broken the course of the game, because in the 65th minute, the guests took the lead thanks to a very curious goal – Cody Gakpo hit hard, and the ball, hitting three West Ham players, still went into the goal.

Shortly after, Liverpool players Diaz and Alex McAllister had excellent chances to double the lead, but the opposite happened – West Ham restored the balance. In the 77th minute, Michael Antonio jumped above the opponent’s defenders after a cross by Bowen, the author of the first goal.

In the end, Liverpool couldn’t pull out a victory, so they lost two valuable points. At the moment, the leader of the tournament is London “Arsenal”, which has 78 points in 34 games, followed by Manchester “City” with 77 points in 33 matches, while “Liverpool” has 76 points with the most played matches (35), including the Liverpool team will have to meet in the remaining three rounds with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur fourth and fifth in the table.
