Russia with GPS interference physically affects people’s everyday life, emphasizes the Lithuanian foreign minister

Russia “is moving from cyber space, disinformation space to more physical actions that affect planes, people’s daily lives, people living in the region,” said Landsbergis.

“It needs political oversight, a political response. One thing we are doing is raising this issue in the North Atlantic Council through ambassadors in Brussels and ministerial meetings,” he listed.

Braze added that “this is not a new phenomenon, but it has some worrying consequences”.

Landsbergis called for sanctions to be imposed on those responsible for interfering with the GPS signal, adding that “it is very important to convey the message to Moscow that they are not operating in the gray zone.”

“If they expect us to be silent, if they expect us not to talk about what is happening, they will definitely not get it. We see, we know and we act against it,” said the Lithuanian foreign minister.

Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia warned last month that Russia’s actions, which are increasingly jamming GPS signals, are increasing the risks of aviation accidents.

On Wednesday, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russia’s charge d’affaires to protest against GPS signal interference.

Russian hybrid attacks in Europe and elsewhere are becoming an increasingly pressing issue. Several European countries have summoned senior Russian diplomats this week to protest Moscow’s orchestrated hybrid and cyber attacks.
