Around 700 students from almost 90 educational institutions gathered in the vicinity of the Ogre technical school today. For many children, this is the first real orienteering competition, so before the start, the coaches are in a hurry to give them the last instructions.

Today, depending on their age, the students had to measure a distance of 1.2 to 2.4 kilometers, while simultaneously orienting themselves on the map and in nature, they had to be able to find all the control points.

The weather didn’t spare anyone – the forest was flooded and the trails were muddy, but it didn’t scare the most experienced runners.

Other students console, if you practice a little, learn to read a map and navigate in the forest, this is probably the best sport in the world.

The fastest runners today found all the checkpoints and covered the distance in about 10 minutes, the slower ones took about half an hour. At the finish, everyone is satisfied.
