A popular Latvian singer admits that Paul treated her harshly

Maestro Raimonds Pauls, a Latvian composer and pianist with an indescribable talent, is recognized not only in Latvia, but also beyond its borders. His gift of music was celebrated in the world by nature itself when he celebrated his 88th birthday on January 12th. However, behind this bright personality hides a not so beautiful melody.

Singer Ieva Akuratere, also one of Latvia’s most outstanding artists, reveals that her relationship with Maestro Raimonds Paula is far from harmonious. In an interview for “Ievas Stāsti” magazine, she shares that conflicts with Paula were caused by various factors.

Ieva Akuratere told about the legendary song “Manai tautai (Help God)” in an interview for the program “Jautā – Jums”, which took place in 2020. She shared that this song was marked with a strong emotional charge, because it gave voice to those people who were forced to wake up in the conditions of the annual kiss of love and freedom of Latvia.

During this time, those who had left their homeland and crossed borders were sometimes viewed with suspicion and labeled as “anti-state” elements. However, this song served as a powerful reminder of the love of Latvia’s heart and soul, encouraging us to return to our roots and become an integral part of it. “To my people (Help God)” not only evoked feelings and memories, but also called for mutual understanding and respect for one’s country – it was a message that emphasized the essential importance of freedom in the life of Latvia.

The host of the program continued to be interested in Ieva’s opinion and asked how she imagined what changes would be necessary so that we could become our own owners in Latvia and regain state order and stability.

After reflection, Ieva agreed that a woman would potentially be needed at the helm of the country. She outlined her point of view by noting that women are typically organized and take care of the household, so the same skills could be applied to running a country. She emphasized that women, unlike men, are more oriented towards cooperation and dialogue than a power struggle, which, in her view, could contribute to more effective state management. However, at the same time, Ieva pointed out that this point of view is only one of many possible scenarios and that successful change requires broad and varied thinking and action.

Four years have passed, and now, in an interview for “Ievas Stāsti” magazine, Ieva reveals that her relationship with Maestro Raymond Paula has not been favorable. This raises the question of the real reasons for this poor relationship. What to think about this situation?
