When asked how he will spend the remaining days until the start in Paris, Ritvars Suharev comments that he will go to training camps, invest hard to achieve the best physical shape and, therefore, the best possible results at the start.

In preparation for the Olympic Games in Paris, which will take place from July 26 to August 11, LOK has created an Olympian Wall to reflect and be proud of Olympic athletes.

Currently, there are portraits of five sportsmen and two sports quotas won on the wall:

  • The javelin thrower Lina Muze-Sirmas, who is currently training in Portugal and last weekend in the Diamond League in China, was the first to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games in 2023.
  • The already mentioned Agate Rašmane, who will represent Latvia in pistol shooting in the 10-meter and 25-meter disciplines, has qualified for the Games.
  • Two quotas have been won in cycling, one was won by Anastasija Carbonari, who is currently staying in Italy, in the women’s competition in the road cycling world championship. On the other hand, in the men’s competition, the quota is won according to the ranking of Nations and a specific athlete will be announced in June according to the internal criteria of the Cycling Federation.
  • Kristaps Neretnieks with his horse in horse riding Palladium KJV qualified for the Paris Olympic Games in showjumping. Kristaps Neretnieks and his horse are currently in Poland and are going to various competitions from there.
  • Ritvars Suharev won sixth place in the weight category up to 73 kilograms at the World Cup in Thailand on April 4, and calculations show that R. Suharev has secured a ticket to the Paris Olympic Games. The rating closes on April 28, however, there are no more competitions in which the athletes’ place in the rating could change.
  • On April 14, the Latvian 3×3 men’s basketball team qualified for the Paris Olympic Games, which won the first Olympic Games qualifying tournament in Hong Kong, and thus also a ticket to Paris. The composition of the team with names and surnames will be announced later, currently a sports pictogram is displayed on the wall, symbolizing the quota for the team.

Ritvars Suharev and Agate Rashmane, who had the opportunity to come in person to open the Olympic Wall of the Paris Olympics, added autographs to their portraits.

Over time, all athletes will be invited to visit the premises of the Latvian Olympic Committee and sign their portraits. Likewise, all quotas that currently do not have images of specific athletes will be replaced with athletes who will go to Paris.
