As summer approaches, it can be observed that the queues at the technical inspection points have become longer and longer. Therefore, the Road Safety Directorate (CSDD) has prepared a few tips to make the vehicle inspection quick, convenient, and not take too much time.

CSDD representative Mārtiņš Mālmeisters says that CSDD has prepared recommendations on how to pass the technical inspection more conveniently and quickly. Mälmeisters: “The basis for everything is to use the e-service developed by E-CSDD, the possibilities it provides. All costs related to the technical inspection of vehicles must be paid remotely in E-CSDD or in the application. This way we will save time while waiting in line at the checkout. There will be no waiting in line to make payments.”

Once we have paid for the service, we can be sure that we will not have to stand in line. However, some nuances should be taken into account, which may differ at CSDD technical inspection points. “After that, E-CSDD and the application, when arriving in Riga, on Antenas Street, for a technical inspection, the driver must log in to the application as an unregistered user in the queue for the inspection, wait. Then, after receiving the instructions in the application, go to the line, quickly and successfully receive the technical inspection of the vehicle,” explains Mälmeister.

On the other hand, for example, in Bauska, Ludza and Valmiera, you can make both payments and apply for a technical inspection in the application at a convenient time. So to speak, the era of smart technology makes life easier. But – if the question has arisen, in which part of the day it is possible to pass the technical inspection the fastest, the answer is in the morning. Weekday mornings are the time when the queues are the smallest, the technical inspection is the fastest. This is explained by the fact that the morning hours are the least demanded by customers.

On the other hand, as CSDD inspectors have observed, quite often some drivers use the technical inspection to diagnose their car, without having the car inspected by a skilled mechanic first. However, as CSDD explains, it should not be done that way. If you fail to pass the technical inspection the first time, it will only make the service more expensive. Mälmeister: “Check if the light on the vehicle has burned out, the seat belts were locked. Are there any other technical problems. It is no secret that often vehicle drivers perform technical inspection as car diagnostics. Maybe there are suspicions of technical defects. After receiving the inspection protocol, it is taken to the service center and repairs are carried out, so that within a month you can get permission to participate in road traffic. “

And more importantly – from time to time it would be valuable to take a look at the CSDD website or application. In this way, we can find out the latest and most relevant information, as well as changes in the working hours of technical stations.
