For the second time this season, the Minnesota Wild changed their goaltender to a fourth baseman in overtime in hopes of pulling out a win. In the NHL, this carries a risk – if an empty goal is conceded in overtime, the team remains without points. Minnesota lost at home to the Las Vegas Golden Knights and was left empty-handed.

After the loss, Ryan Hartman was upset with the work of the referees and threw a stick at the referees from the bench. He was suspended for three games, plus a $62,000 fine that will go to the Players’ Emergency Relief Fund.

29-year-old Hartman has played in 68 games this season, scoring 19 goals and 42 points. He represented “Wild” in the Western Conference from playoff zone eight points behind with nine games left in the regular season.
