Sebastian Vettel admits that he got a lot of pleasure from the hypercar tests conducted as part of the Porsche team, but he has not yet decided whether he will return to racing.
Vettel successfully tested the Porsche 963 in the Hypercar class on the Aragon circuit, covering less than 600 kilometers. It is currently being said that the four-time F1 champion could be included in the squad for the upcoming Le Mans 24 Hours race in the summer, but the German himself emphasizes that he has not decided anything yet.
“Curiosity about what these cars are like teaches me, and that’s why I took part in the tests,” explains Vettel. “It was a nice experience, it was very interesting. Now you have to think and decide. I need to figure out for myself what I want to do in the future in terms of racing. But at the moment I don’t know yet.”
In the FIA WEC Championship, “Porsche” starts with two cars, but will also enter a third for the stage at Le Mans. All three drivers were planned to be announced in late March or early April, but now it is reported that this could happen later as the team wants a positive response from Vettel.
Vettel ended his F1 career in 2022 with 53 victories, 122 podiums and four championship titles. Since then, he has not started a race.
“My goals have shifted from winning races and fighting for titles to watching my kids grow up, passing on my values to them, helping them get up when they fall and listening to them when they need me,” said Vettel. “Most importantly, I learn from them and let them be my inspiration.”
