Defender of the Latvian hockey team Christian Rubin would like to continue his career in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), the hockey player himself revealed in a conversation with the portal “Hokejazinas.com”.
It has already been announced that after failing to enter the SHL play-off tournament, the Modo unit announced that Rubīns will not represent the team in the next season. Latvian “Modo” joined before last season, scoring four goals, six assists and neutral utility in 44 games. He played his last game on February 17 – in the match against “Timra” Rubīns scored his fourth goal, but got injured and did not go on the field again.
“I am satisfied with the past season in Sweden, but I have always been a maximalist. Even after the World Championship, I felt that I could have played even better. I am satisfied with my performance and that of the team. We were only one point away from making the playoffs. In the SHL championship, fast hockey is played, the size of the field is larger than in the USA, so it was necessary to get used to the style of play. The games were interesting, every match was like the seventh game of the play-off series, and very rarely you could predict the winner in advance,” says the defender about the Swedish league.
“Already in the final phase of the season, I knew that cooperation with MoDo would not be continued, but the club announced this only recently. I liked playing in this club, but probably the wishes of both parties did not coincide. Nothing crazy happened, that’s life. The agent has started negotiations with clubs and as soon as there are any options, communication with me will follow. Many leagues are currently in the playoffs and there is a bit of a wait. I am looking at different options, but in Europe, Sweden would be the primary target. Everything depends on the offer and my wishes. I feel that I can still develop as a player,” Rubīns is confident.
