The first 100% electric Range Rover all-terrain prototypes are currently being tested in several challenging locations around the world. The all-electric drive is tested in an extreme temperature range from -40°C at the Arctic Circle to +50°C in the deserts of the Middle East.

Innovative software developed by JLR precisely controls the speed of the EDU to precisely manage wheel slip, reducing the need for ABS intervention. Traction is maximized on all surfaces, providing excellent response and stability that significantly enhances the driving experience of the Range Rover. This system works in concert with the stability control and chassis systems for an even better ride.

Thomas Miller, Executive Director of Product Engineering: “Range Rover with electric drive means the usual Range Rover luxury, refinement and capability, as well as near-inaudible movement – for a smooth and relaxing drive. To ensure that every aspect of the car’s performance is optimised, we fully we are vigorously implementing a physical test program. It is designed to test the Range Rover Electric in extreme conditions and ensure that when the car reaches its owners, its capabilities will truly surprise them.”
