Porsche talks about the new Macan

--

The German sports luxury car maker has revealed details of the new Macan, which will now be available as an all-electric vehicle in two dual-motor all-wheel drive versions.

The entry-level Macan 4 is equipped with two engines that develop 285 kW (387 hp), with the power temporarily increasing to 300 kW (408 hp) in Overboost and Launch Control mode, while the maximum torque reaches 650 Nm. In this case, the Macan runs up to a hundred in 5.2 seconds, with a maximum speed of 220 km/h.

The Macan Turbo is endowed with 584 hp, which increases to 639 hp in Overboost mode, with a torque of 1130 Nm. Turbo version performance: 3.3 seconds to hundred and 260 km/h maximum speed.

Interestingly, the Turbo version, unlike the Macan 4, is designed to be slightly heavier at the rear. Depending on the situation, up to 100 percent of the drive power is directed to one of the two all-wheel drive axles, and for the first time on a Macan, rear-axle steering with a maximum steering angle of up to five degrees is available as an option, helping to ensure even greater cornering stability and thus greater performance. The standard equipment of the Turbo will also include air suspension with electronic damper control Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with two-valve technology, electronically controlled differential lock on the rear axle (Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus) and Boose music system, which “steals” compared to the Macan 4 60 liters of trunk capacity. It reaches 540 liters in the Macan 4, 480 liters in the Turbo, the front trunks are the same for both – 84 liters.

Both versions are based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), developed together with Audi. The lithium-ion battery with a net capacity of 95 kWh (100 kWh gross) is built into the bottom of the body, thus the center of gravity of the electric Macan is 140 mm lower than the model with internal combustion engines.

Thanks to the 800-volt technology, a maximum charging power of 270 kW is possible. The manufacturer has stated that using an appropriate fast charging station, 21 minutes will be enough to charge the battery from ten to 80 percent, while 4 minutes will be enough for a 100-kilometer trip. Charging is also possible with 11 kW (22 kW promised soon), and charging ports are located on both sides of the rear fenders. True, the rear left can be charged with both AC and DC, the rear right only with DC.

For the convenience of drivers, Porsche has provided a 12.9-inch monitor for the driver, as well as a 10.6-inch central display, but another touch screen of the same size can be ordered for the front passenger as well. Porsche is proud of the new Head up projection display – the image appears to the driver ten meters away, and therefore it has an 87-inch display size.

In Germany, the Macan 4 price starts at 84,100 euros, the powerful Turbo is available from 114,600 euros.
