The new national guards take the oath

Today, at the Jelgava liberators monument, the solemn swearing-in ceremony of the new National Guardsmen of the 52nd Combat Support Battalion of the 4th Kurzeme Brigade of the National Guard took place. The ranks of the battalion are supplemented by 15 new National Guardsmen, including eight Jelgavniks.

Lieutenant Colonel Mārtiņš Bučs, Commander of the 52nd Combat Support Battalion of the 4th Kurzeme Brigade of the National Guard took the oath from the National Guard candidates. Andris Rāviņš, the chairman of the Jelgava City Council, also welcomed the new national guardsmen at the important moment.

The 52nd Combat Battalion of the National Guard informs that 30 National Guardsmen have joined the battalion in the last year. 11 men and four women were sworn in on Friday. The eight new national guardsmen have indicated their residential address in the city of Jelgava.

It should be reminded that the 4th Kurzeme Brigade of the National Guard covers the entire Kurzeme region and part of the territory of Zemgale region. Under the command of the brigade is the headquarters in Kuldīga, the 44th infantry battalion of the National Guard in Liepāja, the 45th combat support battalion of the National Guard in Kuldīga, the 46th infantry battalion of the National Guard in Ventspils, the 51st infantry battalion of the National Guard in Dobele and the 52nd combat support battalion of the National Guard in Jelgava.

The 52nd Combat Support Battalion of the National Guard was founded on September 9, 1991. The area of ​​responsibility of the unit covers Jelgava and Jelgava county.

The National Guard does not discriminate based on nationality, education, specialty or experience. The candidate must be a citizen of Latvia between the ages of 18 and 60, with knowledge of the national language at least at the intermediate (B1) level, with an appropriate state of health and initial physical fitness. The requirements for candidates can be found on the website of the National Guard at www.zs.mil.lv.
