4. Way of thinking. Try to look objectively at the thought that haunts you. This can be done by putting the anxious thought on paper – write down the pros and cons of the situation; if you are in doubt about what decision to make, write down all the possible options and the pros and cons next to each one. It is worth taking a practical look at what is worst now and in the near future. If it seems that what is happening is a disaster, ask yourself a shocking question – is what is happening really unsalvageable compared to death? There are various disasters in our lives – private, economic, political – but death is an indicator that allows us to see them all in comparison. It is also worth asking yourself – is it really so dramatic that I will remember it in one, five or ten years? If the situation is really so dramatic, try to remember if there has been something in your life as terrible as what is happening now. Each of us has had crises, so the way you previously adapted and solved an unpleasant situation can be useful, because anxious thinking is characterized by globalization – the problem exists, but the more a person thinks about the problem without seeing a solution, the greater the anxiety and the more dramatic the thoughts become.
