Forward Robert Bukart will already have his 11th World Championship, and he has spent eight seasons in the Czech Republic, where the strongest national teams will meet. Before leaving, Roberts said in an interview on Latvian Television that he is flying to the championship for the first time in the same plane with his family.

“Such mixed feelings – because you are flying to the club, because you are flying home, but it is the world championship. It will be interesting,” said Robert Bukart.

Roberts spent the last four years in the Vitkovice team, which is based in the Ostrava Arena, where the Latvian national team will play. Roberts laughs that he knows every cleaner and driver of the ice maintenance machine in the Ostrava arena.

“I think there will be a cool atmosphere. The main thing is for everyone to pass the tournament without injuries, and we progress from game to game. We are not going to rest, but after victories and hard work,” emphasized Robert Bukart.

There are seven debutants in the ranks of the Latvian national team at the world championship – Haralds Egle and Eduards Tralmaks are going to their first championship at the age of 27.

Striker Tralmak said that he is looking forward to his debut championship, and he does not need to look for motivation.

Several debutants have just reached the age of 21-22 and some are still studying at US universities. National team striker Felix Gavar slept for two hours the night before leaving because he was taking an exam in mathematics at the university.

“I finished school and then I can safely go to the championship now,” Gavar said. “Young people can sleep less, and if they want, they can always do everything.”

The World Championship will start in the Czech Republic on Friday, May 10, and the Latvian national team will start the group tournament on May 11 in Ostrava with a match against Poland. The pre-match studio for LTV7 and LSM.lv will start at 16.30

In the continuation of the group stage, Latvian hockey players will have to play against France (May 12), Kazakhstan (May 14), Germany (May 15), Sweden (May 18), Slovakia (May 19) and the USA national team (May 21). . The four strongest teams in the group will advance to the quarterfinals. The medal winners at the world championship will be announced at the finals in Prague on May 26.
