The show is based on the experiences of humanitarian aid workers on the border between Poland and Belarus. The performance Empire is a performative installation that invites the viewer to reflect on the migration crisis from the perspectives of border crossers, volunteers and border guards.

Collective Freedom of speech zone is an association established in 2012, which uses artistic means of expression to update various social developments in Poland and Europe more broadly, and invites to understand their impact on various groups of people, including refugees. In 2023, the show Empire was created with the support of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival, was included in Warsaw Powszechny in the theater repertoire and will be seen in guest performances in Latvia and Lithuania in May.

The performance Empire will be shown in Daugavpils on Thursday, May 16, at 19.00 at Saules school (Saules iela 8, Daugavpils) and in Riga on Saturday, May 18, at 20.00 Dirty Deal Theatre (Talsu street 1, Riga).

The show will be in Polish with subtitles in Latvian and English. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the authors of the performance and associations I want to help refugees representatives about the situation on the border of the European Union and Belarus.
