This year, four festivals dedicated to families are expected – Mother’s Day Festival, Children’s Day Festival, “Golden Rhythms” festival for grandparents and Father’s Day Festival.
Mothers, fathers, children and grandparents – each family member will have their own festival this year. “These are value-enhancing, educational and entertaining events, where everyone has a different message, but the unifying factor is that values are formed in the family,” says Inga Akmentiņa-Smildziņa, the organizer of the festivals and head of the parents’ organization “Mammamuntetiem.lv”. Each of the events, as well as the activities in them, are available free of charge.
The year of festivals will start with the Mother’s Day Festival. The event will take place on Saturday, May 11, from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. in Riga, “Hanzas Perona”.
“The family is the foundation of every country. That is why it is important to honor families every year, to promote belonging to Latvia and to say thank you to families. We, the parents’ organization “Mammamuntetiem.lv”, do this by organizing holidays for families – we have observed that for many these festivals have already become their annual tradition,” says Inga Akmentiņa-Smildziņa.
