The Ventspils basketball championship is coming to an end, and already this weekend, on May 11, the champions of the 2023/2024 season will be determined in the basketball hall of the “Ventspils” Olympic Center.
Play for gold medals at Anguase/Pope and the Free Port Authority will meet at 18:00, but the bronze medal game at Niedras and Ventspils Technical University will meet at 16:15.
7 teams took part in the championship this year – Angaže/Pope, Brīvosta pravade, Spars 1, Spars 2, Ventspils Tehnikums, Niedras and Ventspils 36ers, who played a one-round tournament among themselves, after which the playoffs took place.
In the quarter-finals, the winners were determined in the sum of two games, and Ventspils Tehnikums beat Ventspils 36ers with 166:148 (87:71, 77:77), Brīvosta administration with 240:154 (112:68, 128:86), Spars 2, and Niedras with 128: 58 Spars 1.
In the semi-finals, Angaže/Pope beat Ventspils Tehnikuma with 77:69 and 77:65 and were superior in the sum of two games 154:134. In the second semi-final, Brīvosta administration lost in the first game with 83:86, but Niedras won the second game with 103:61 and won the sum of two games with 186:147.

The Ventspils championship is organized by the basketball club “Ventspils” with the financial support of the municipality of Ventspils.
