The Association of Latvian Doctors implements the campaign “Understand and support”, during which the public’s attention is drawn to the importance of mutual understanding, trust and support in the interaction between doctors and patients for a successful health care process. “Indians have a greeting ‘namaste’ – I see you. This is what we have lost. We see screens, computers, numbers, data, indicators, but the main thing is to see the person and not lose the person, and the ability to see him also in health care, ” admits Ilze Aizsilniece.
Ilva Aršauska also admits that the problem of communication is at the root of everything, because we do not know how to communicate with each other, there is a lack of conversations. Consequently, unnecessary misunderstandings arise.
“We don’t know how to express ourselves, we don’t know how to say thank you, we don’t know how to formulate our needs often, therefore it creates a series of different types of misunderstandings,” admits Ilva Aršauska
Viesturs Boka believes that it is necessary to think about actions when there are negative cases. Is it typical of the system, is it a problem, or is it a unique case.
“Often, after one negative precedent, we try to make decisions, install new road signs,” believes Viesturs Boka.
The Association of Doctors has started the campaign “Understand and Support” and invites both patients and doctors to write when they feel understood and supported. A positive atmosphere and trust are important.
