The situation is monitored and various possible scenarios are modelled. “All kinds of security is the number one priority,” said Saulīte, at the same time confirming that there are no concerns about the election system – its developers and the Directorate of Citizenship and Migration Affairs have done a good job.

As you know, in these European Parliament elections, voters will be able to vote in the nearest and most preferred polling station. Saulite pointed out that the risk that a person could vote several times is excluded, because the system clearly shows if a person has already voted.

Also, the head of the CVK reminded that wishes can be made three days before June 8. “It is written in the Constitution that Saeima elections are held on the same day, but the law of the European Parliament allows voting earlier. I would invite everyone to think about it and make their choice earlier,” urged Saulīte.

Saulite expressed her hope that a larger number of voters will participate in the European Parliament elections this time, taking into account the current geopolitical situation: “We are part of Europe and we must represent our interests.”

Latvian citizens will also have access to 50 polling stations abroad, and it will also be possible to vote by mail. On the other hand, 949 polling stations will operate in Latvia.
