Throughout Latvia, from May 13 to 18, a wide program of face-to-face and online events is offered as part of the annual informative and educational campaign “Digital Week 2024”. Various organizations and their partners hold free seminars, webinars and hands-on training. The municipality of Sigulda region also invites the residents of the region to be active, to find new or supplement their knowledge in the digital field by participating in the Digital Week activities in the region.

On May 14, from 10:00 a.m., an opportunity will be provided to attend individual consultations and improve your e-skills at the national and local government unified customer service center at Raina street 3, Sigulda, and to gain both insight and practical skills in using electronic self-service portals. It is an opportunity for every resident of the region to increase their knowledge about the functions offered by latvija.gov.lv and e.sigulda.lv – authorization on the portal, applying for an e-service, creating an e-address and its functionality, as well as other interesting questions about the opportunities provided by the state and municipality and the various range of services.

On May 17, at 2:30 p.m., the Sigulda County Library invites you to join the lesson “Get to know library databases” and gain skills in searching for information in the online subscription databases and digital collections of the Latvian National Library by finding an article of interest in the press. In addition, those interested will have the opportunity to learn how to find answers in encyclopedic resources, dictionaries and archival materials, how to find Latvian, regional and district newspaper archives. Also, knowledge will be provided on how to find and listen to historical sound recordings, take a look at the Song Festival repository, view Latvia’s industrial heritage and photo collection “Lost Latvia”. The lesson is intended for a wide range of interested people, adults, pensioners and high school students.

On May 17, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Sigulda Technology Education Center at Raina Street 3, Sigulda, is holding a design workshop for educators and education specialists on the effective use of technology in the learning process, where they will be able to jointly explore and develop innovative ways to integrate technology into lessons in order to make learning both exciting and effective. The workshop will be an open platform where cooperation, exchange of experiences and creative thinking will be encouraged. Using design thinking strategies, participants will be challenged to think about how technology can complement and enhance the learning process, enhancing student learning experiences and fostering educational innovation. Participants will not only learn new skills, but will also be able to immediately apply the acquired knowledge base in their daily work.
