In the fight against the evil of alcohol and in support of Ukraine: Latvia hands over seized vehicles to Ukraine – BNN

On Tuesday, May 7, the government decided to hand over 24 more vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine free of charge.

The cars are intended for the military administration of the village of Cirkunivska of the Kharkiv region, the municipal non-commercial company of the Kharkiv city council “City Polyclinic No. 3”, to the village council of Cirkunivsk, the military units of the National Guard, the village council of Khrushiv of the Dnipropetrovsk region, the communal non-commercial enterprise “The center of primary medical and sanitary assistance of the village council of the Krasnokutsk village of the Bogoduhyva district of the Kharkiv region”.

Cars will also be delivered to the Trostyanets City Council, the Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub, the army units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Malodivitka Village Council of the Prilutka District of the Chernihiv Region, the Parafiivka Village Council of the Prilutka District of the Chernihiv Region, the Ichnia City Council of the Prilutka District of the Chernihiv Region, the State of the Prilutka Region administration, Chernihiv region, Sribniansk village council and Mukachevo district state administration.

The total preliminary market value of the 24 vehicles to be transferred to Ukraine is 87,361 euros.

Among them, it is planned to transfer to Ukraine “BMW X5” of an unspecified year of manufacture (provisional market value 284 euros), 2008 “Ford Mondeo” (1,950 euros), 1999 “Volkswagen Passat Variant” (184 euros), 2007 “Audi A4” (2,950 euros), 2002 “Audi A4 Avant” (154 euros), 2003 “Opel Frontera” (4,100 euros), 2005 “Audi A4 Avant” (4,150 euros), 2004 2008 “Opel Meriva” (1,200 euros), 2008 “Toyota Auris” (2,590 euros), 2008 “Volkswagen Golf” (3,200 euros), 2013 “Lancia Voyager” (10,900 euros) and 2007 “Chrysler Voyager” (5,400 euros).

It has already been reported that for sitting at the wheel, if the concentration of alcohol in the body exceeds 1.5 parts per thousand, criminal liability is provided, and in addition to the punishment, the car is also confiscated if it belongs to the offender.

According to the Law on the Support of Civilians of Ukraine, vehicles belonging to the State of Latvia can be transferred to the property of the Government of Ukraine free of charge in order to help prevent the consequences of the emergency situation related to the hostilities in Ukraine and to support the Ukrainian society. This is one of the ways Latvia helps Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.

The State Revenue Service (SRS) cooperates with the association “Agendum” in the transfer of vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine, which, with the help of the so-called “Twitterconvoy”, will ensure the delivery of the car to Ukraine and its transfer to the Ukrainian government institutions, performing all necessary actions and covering all related expenses.

Association “Agendum” receives requests for assistance from various Ukrainian government institutions regarding the need for vehicles. The SRS provided the association with an up-to-date list of vehicles belonging to the state, which the association evaluated according to the received requests for assistance. SRS offers cars that are in good driving condition for evaluation.
