The volume of construction works and traffic restrictions on them is increasing in the national road network – this week construction works are already underway on 40 sections of national roads, VSIA “Latvijas Valsts ceļi” informs.

On the Vidzeme highway (A2) from the turn to Cēsīm in Melturos (P20) to Rīdzene, construction works are starting again and traffic is regulated by traffic lights in five sections, therefore you should plan 45 minutes for the 11 km long section. On the other hand, due to restrictions, an additional half hour on the road should be expected when driving from Ventspils in the direction of Dundaga (P77), where there are four temporary traffic light sections.

The representatives of “Latvijas Valsts kētu” call on drivers to obey the traffic light signal and not to enter the reverse traffic section at the red light. In reverse traffic sections, there is no opportunity for the transport to change and when driving at a red traffic light, the movement of all road users is further hindered, as well as the safety of road users and construction workers is endangered.

The biggest traffic restrictions on national roads:

  • On the section of the Vidzeme highway (A2) from the turn to Cēsis (P20) to Rīdzeni, there are five sections of traffic lights, speed limits – 70, 50 and 30 km/h. The estimated time of crossing the repair stage is 45 minutes;
