“They got the debt collectors on me!” Two months after the doctor’s visit, the patient learns that he is in debt

Igor had already paid for the doctor’s visit before entering the office. After performing the necessary procedures, the otolaryngologist informed Igor that he will have to go to the reception desk.

Considering that Igor had already paid for the visit, he did not go to the reception desk and went home. Two months after visiting the doctor, the man found out that he owed the hospital.

It turns out that Igor had not paid 11 euros. The man, full of confusion, decided to contact the hospital management.

While Igor has been waiting for an answer from the hospital, debt collectors have already contacted him. Igor got angry and contacted the hospital again, saying that he would pay the debt, but asked to call off the debt collectors.

During the consultation, the specialist informs the patient that the additional manipulations are a paid service. The hospital’s position is accommodating, and the patient has been informed several times about the created debt: 17.04.23; 25.04.23 and 08.05.23. Each time, warning about the possible consequences if the patient does not make the payment. Since the patient did not respond to repeated reminders to make payment for the manipulation, then on 12.05.23. the debt was transferred to debt collection.

The hospital justifies that they have received the debt from Igor and can’t help anymore. We turn to the debt collection company, which also provides the answer in writing

Please note that until the repayment of the principal debt is received, the debt recovery service provider performs collection activities, for which the incurred debt recovery expenses, if their reimbursement is requested and there is no dispute about the existence of the debt, in accordance with Article 6 of the Law on Extrajudicial Debt Recovery, the debtor is obliged to reimburse.

The debt collection firm says that the amount will not increase, but Igor will have to pay it.
