Konrad Adenauer was the first Chancellor of Federal Germany from 1949 to 1963. As chancellor and chairman of the CDU, he greatly influenced the course of politics in post-war Germany. Adenauer attached great importance to cooperation with the West in connection with European unity and membership in NATO, his merit was also the introduction of the social market economy system.
In political education The Konrad Adenauer Foundation advocates for peace, freedom and justice both nationally and internationally. Strengthening of democracy, promotion of European unity, intensification of transatlantic relations and cooperation in development policy are the special aspects of the foundation’s activity – involving idea banks and consulting agencies, holding conferences, exhibitions and congresses, as well as supporting new talents.
