On the last day of April and the beginning of May, spring warmth will remain in Latvia – the air will warm above +20 degrees in many places. At the end of the week, however, it will gradually get colder again – frost is possible in some places at night in the new week, informs the Center of Environment, Geology and Meteorology.
On Tuesday, April 30, the clouds will mix with the sun and in some places, mainly in the central and eastern regions, short-term rain, locally even thunderstorms are expected. The wind will be slow, and in most parts of the country the day will pass with pleasantly warm weather – the air temperature will reach +18…+23 degrees, but a few degrees lower air temperature is expected near the water, mainly on the coast of the bay, only +9…+14 degrees there.
On Wednesday, May 1, the weather will become sunnier again, if it still rains in places at night, then the day will pass with dry weather, a slow to moderate north-east, east wind will blow. At night on Wednesday, the air will cool down to +6…+12 degrees, but during the day, almost everywhere, except for the bay coast, the air will warm up to +20…+23 degrees.
Also in the second half of the week, higher atmospheric pressure will remain over the national territory, so the weather conditions will be generally calm and favorable. In the first days of May, the weather will be mostly dry and sunny, only during the holidays a little rain is expected in places in the east. Temperatures will remain similar to the beginning of the week, but will gradually begin to drop as the weekend approaches. On Sunday, the thermometer will not exceed the +15 degree mark, but at the beginning of next week, in the dark hours of the day, the thermometer will probably fall below the 0 degree mark – frost is expected on the top layer of the grass.
