“The Russian government uses all the repressive methods used by the leaders of the Soviet Union against the people of Russia. These methods include punitive psychiatry, first introduced by Andropov in 1969 to fight dissidents, as well as physical, sexual violence and Stalin’s terrible terms of serving sentences of 10, 15 and 25 years, as in the case of my husband for the fact that he does not agree with the official policy of the Russian state and is against the war,” Yevgenia Kara-Murza, the wife of the politically imprisoned Kremlin oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza, said in an interview on the TV24 program “Globuss”.

In the interview, Yevgenia Kara-Murza also talked about how she was once told that the Russians were not “brave enough and did not speak up enough” to express their protest against the war launched by the aggressor Russia in Ukraine. “Then I want to ask them: what would you personally be willing to sacrifice to say “No!” to war? What about losing parental rights? Like Natalia Filonova in Buryatia, like Alexey Moskolyov, who are loving parents, and who were imprisoned by the state for several years for their anti-war position, and their children were taken away from them because they believe that they are raising their children incorrectly,” the political prisoner told in detail about the repression against Russian oppositionists Wife of Kremlin oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza.

In the continuation of the interview, Yevhenija Kara-Murza told in more detail about her husband – political prisoner Vladimir, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison in Russia. She said that both children are coming to terms with it and are growing up without their father for a long time.

“When father was poisoned for the first time, our eldest daughter was 9 years old. When she was 11 years old, her father was poisoned for the second time. Today the daughter is 18, but the father has been sentenced to 25 years. Her younger brother was 10 when his father was arrested. And now he is already 12 years old. My husband is even denied the opportunity to talk to the children on the phone because the Russian authorities consider him a prison violator. He is placed in a separate prison cell, so he is denied phone calls and visitors. In the two years since my husband has been in prison, he has spoken to his children twice. I last heard my husband’s voice on the phone last summer – it was a short 10 minute conversation. Our children spoke to him for the last time last December. It was 15 minutes. We have three children, if we distribute them to each, we get 5 minutes each,” said Yevgenija Kara-Murza in the TV24 program about the repression against her husband.

With this story, the wife of the political prisoner pointed out what kind of repression is now being carried out against her husband by the Russian regime because of his political views. “In this way, my husband is now being punished for his anti-war position and his anti-Putin position – for years of fighting against this regime. He is denied the opportunity to see his children, raise them and do everything to make life in Russia better, so that it becomes a democratic country that will respect the rights of its citizens and not be a danger to its neighbors,” admitted Yevgenia Kara-, the wife of Kremlin oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza.
