The father of many children was caught driving without a license 17 times

The man came to the criminal trial because he was caught driving under the influence of drugs last year.

Police stopped the “Volvo” driven by Ivars, born in 1973, on the evening of November 5 last year in Liepāja, on Mežmalas Street. It was established that the car driver is under the influence of narcotic substances.

The court’s judgment states: by driving a vehicle without the appropriate category of driving license under the influence of narcotic substances, the defendant endangered not only his own safety and that of the public, but also the health and lives of the four passengers in the car at the time.

The man fully admitted his guilt, regretted what he had done.

So far, he has not been criminally punished, but he has been punished administratively 33 times, including 17 times for driving a vehicle without a driving license.

Ivars has a two-grade education, he did not work during the trial because he was on parental leave.

He is dependent on seven minor children. In March of this year, the family was granted the status of a poor household.

In the opinion of the court, community service and a fine cannot be determined for Ivar, because his state of health, physical abilities, financial condition and the number of dependents do not allow it.

The court decided to punish the man with deprivation of liberty for four months, taking away the right to drive a vehicle for five years.

The sentence of deprivation of liberty is conditional – it will not be carried out if the convicted person does not commit a new criminal offense during the six-month probationary period, does not violate public order and fulfills the obligations stipulated in the law regulating the execution of criminal sentences and determined by the State Probation Service.
