Last week, on April 18, I attended the concert of the band “Galaktika” in Aizkraukle. It was the group’s new program “We own so much!!!”, with which it went on a concert tour, performing 29 concerts in various places in Latvia from January 11. “2019 In 2018, it was planned to release the third studio album and go to you with a happy heart, but then, when the years of the big trouble came, everything fell apart, and the songs remained unsung and unheard… It is a moment of joy, because we can be together again, we can give each other good emotions — both with new songs and — most importantly — coexistence,” the artists expressed before the concert tour in the public space. The band was founded by musicians Normunds Zuš and Vitold Gornevs. Normund is a music teacher by profession and gained wider recognition in the TV3 show “Koru kari”, in which he participated together with the Rēzekne Zaļi pakalnu choir.
Since I am from Latgale and the group is also from Latgale, I always look with joy and interest at what the residents of the region have done. Although I often hear disparaging remarks about pop music, it is my favorite band. Therefore, it is a great pleasure to have the opportunity to enjoy the concert in Aizkraukle.
The musicians of the group “Crazy Daisy” also performed on stage together with “Galaktika”. The new program includes songs written before the pandemic, as well as recently created songs, as well as already known and popular songs. All the songs of “Galaxy” are very melodic. Whether it’s sad or fun, all of them are touching to the core. The lyrics are also understandable, sincere. Normunds Zuš knows how to sing each word clearly, which could not be said about other singers, because either the words somehow blend together, or he sings them so vaguely that you have to find out what he was talking about. I really like how Normunds Zuš communicates with the audience. He tells briefly and concretely what the song will be about, you don’t have to listen to those long and often illogical lyrics between songs, like, for example, how do you feel, raise your right hand, now your left, and so on. The fact that the singer hosts the program “Latvijas sirdsdziesma” on Latvian Television, which I regularly follow, and the Sunday program of Latvian Radio2 also gives me experience in managing events.

Normund Zuš has the talent to touch the heart of every listener and viewer. Not only to me, but also to other concertgoers who were addressed, it seemed that he was singing only to them.
As I already mentioned, all the songs played at the concert appealed to me. From the songs of the previous years, “Mans žimtais novads” is close to my heart. Listening to it, it seems that I am walking through the most beautiful places of Latgale. Likewise “Razna”. I have often been to the Rāzna lake, the song moves me, it just seems that I am standing on the shore of the lake and looking at its beauty. In this concert as well, the finale was “Pie Dieviņa gari galdi”, which is a song of songs, and it is difficult to listen to it without saltiness in the eyes. The concert brought only positive emotions, and after that I felt as if I had visited my native side.
