Due to insufficient funding, the open tender announced by the municipal waste management company SIA “ZAAO” for the first round of reconstruction of the eco square in Valmiera has ended without results, according to the information published in the Electronic Procurement System.
As stated in the final report of the procurement, “ZAAO” has decided to stop the procurement because the procurement cannot be realized due to insufficient funds.
In total, five applicants applied for the tender – SIA “DSM Meistari”, which offered to implement the first round of reconstruction of the eco-square for 1.85 million euros, SIA “Limbažu ceļi” (1.722 million euros), association of individuals “San_ceļi” (1.573 million euros), SIA “Pillar Contractor” (1.809 million euros), as well as SIA “Aidaco Construction” (1.79 million euros).
According to the procurement regulations, the first round of reconstruction of the eco area was planned in the integrated project “Waste as resources in Latvia – Promotion of regional sustainability and circulation by introducing the concept of using waste as resources” of the European Union Environment and Climate Action Program LIFE 2018-2020.
The goal of the project is to reduce the amount of waste by introducing new material circulation measures and reducing the economic impact on the environment and the carbon footprint by fully implementing the measures set out in the State Waste Management Plan for 2021-2028.
It was planned that the first phase of the eco-square reconstruction project would serve as a complex model for the sorted waste collection point and for the replication of solutions in other waste management regions.
The tender was announced last year on November 28, while offers were opened on January 31 this year.
