Last week, the Kurzeme Regional Court announced a summary judgment in a criminal case in which Jānis S., a former Jelgava firefighter and rescuer, was accused of criminal offenses against morality and sexual integrity, which resulted in the suffering of several persons under the age of sixteen. He was also charged with illegal possession of narcotic substances at his residence. The regional court has decided to cancel the verdict of the first instance court in the part regarding the finding of the accused guilty and punishment for one criminal offense, but in the part regarding the other 20 crimes, the verdict was left unchanged.

Jānis started his career in the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) 20 years ago in Jelgava. The career was successful for a while, as the firefighter rose to the position of division commander, and then became deputy platoon commander. At the same time, there was enough time to chat with girls at the duty station, and those who had not even reached the age of 16 yet.
