38 years ago, in 1986, the biggest nuclear disaster ever experienced by mankind took place in Ukraine – the accident at the Chornobyl NPP. More than 6,000 men from Latvia participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident. 3,500 of the rescuers who worked at the accident site became disabled, but several hundred Latvian citizens involved in the liquidation work have already died.
According to the data of the Jelgava Social Affairs Department, there are currently more than 60 people living in Jelgava who once participated in the prevention of the consequences of the NPP accident.
It should be reminded that the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chornobyl NPP accident, who have declared their main place of residence in Jelgava, can receive the benefit of the voluntary initiative of the municipality – an annual benefit for rehabilitation in the amount of 50 euros.
If the participant in the cleanup of the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP accident received this benefit last year, he does not need to apply to JSLP again, because the benefit will be transferred to the current account of the credit institution at JSLP’s disposal.
According to the binding regulations of the municipality, the benefit is paid repeatedly until April 30 of each year. Last year, 64 participants in the cleanup of the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP accident received this benefit.
In order to receive the benefit in the amount of 50 euros for the first time, the person with the application should apply to JSLP Pulkveža Oskaras Kalpaka street 9, room 115, where the application form for granting the benefit “Application without income assessment” is also available. On the other hand, the electronic application form is published on the website www.jelgava.lv, in the section “Services”, “Social services”.
In the application, it is mandatory to indicate the account number of the credit institution to which the benefit is transferred, as well as the number of the certificate of the participant in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP accident. The application can be submitted: by placing it in the box located at JSLP at Pulkveža Oskars Kalpak Street 9; by delivering to the JSLP Information Office (room 115) at 9 Pulkveža Oskaras Kalpak Street; by sending by mail JSLP to the address: Pulkveža Oskara Kalpaka Street 9, Jelgava, LV-3001; signed with a secure electronic signature by sending to the e-mail address [email protected]; by sending to an e-mail address.
