Next week, on April 30, at 10:30 a.m., the permanent base of the airline “Norwegian” in Riga will be opened, LETA agency was informed at the Riga airport.

The event will be attended by Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia Īne Morenga, Economy Minister Viktors Valainis (ZZS), Transport Minister Kaspars Briškens (P), “Norwegian” board chairman Geirs Karlsens, Riga Airport board chairman Laila Odiņa, “Norwegian” Riga base manager Iluta Savicka, as well as Fredis Bikovs, director of the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency.

Riga Airport will be the base airport for 30 airline pilots and 60 flight crews.

“Norwegian” representatives previously informed that in the summer “Norwegian” will offer six direct routes from Riga, four of which will be to Scandinavia – Oslo, Trondheim, Copenhagen and Stockholm, while two routes from Riga will be new – to Tivat in Montenegro and Corfu in Greece.

It has already been announced that the airline “Norwegian” has been working at Riga Airport since the end of 2005.

Riga Airport served a total of 6.631 million passengers in 2023, which is 23.2% more than the year before, when 5.381 million passengers were served, but 15% less than in 2019, when 7.798 million passengers were served at the airport.

Riga Airport is the largest air traffic hub in the Baltic States.
