In April of this year, several attempts to pay for a purchase using fake money were detected in the service area of the North Vidzeme precinct of the Vidzeme Regional Administration of the State Police. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the incident. During a series of investigative activities, the officials of the investigation department of the North Vidzeme precinct of the State Police Vidzeme Region Administration found out the possible culprits who were detained.

In the month of April 2024, in the service territory of the North Vidzeme precinct of the State Police Vidzeme region, several cases were found when a man tried to pay for a purchase in a store using a fake 50 euro banknote. A total of nine criminal proceedings have been initiated for these cases according to the first part of Article 192 of the Criminal Law. Such a criminal offense is punishable by deprivation of liberty for a period of three to ten years, with or without confiscation of property.
By carrying out a series of investigative activities, the State Police identified several involved persons, two of whom were detained. In the course of the investigation, two persons were recognized as suspects, while two persons were assigned the status of a person against whom criminal proceedings have been initiated.
Suspects are subject to non-custodial security measures. Persons 1964, 1986, 1995, 1996 were born and have previously come to the attention of the police for various offenses.
