The Minister of Defense, the Director General of the SRS and representatives of the Saeima will attend the visit

On Friday, April 26, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Latvia Andris Sprūds will visit Ventspils with an accompanying delegation, Director General of the State Revenue Service Baiba Šmite-Roķe and representatives of the Saeima.

Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds will visit the Ventspils City Council as part of his visit, where he is scheduled to meet with the leadership of the Ventspils State City Municipality – Council Chairman Jānis Vītoliņa, 1st Deputy Chairman for Cooperation Affairs Gunti Blumberga, Executive Director Aldi Ābeli, and participate in the meeting of the Ventspils Civil Defense Commission. After the meeting in the City Council, the guests will go to the Ventspils Radio Astronomy Center in Irben. The minister’s visit to the Ventspils municipality is part of a wider regional visit, during which it is planned to also visit the National Armed Forces and National Guard facilities in Kurzeme.

During the visit, Director General of the State Revenue Service Baiba Šmite-Roķe will meet with the leadership of the Ventspils Municipal Council – Council Chairman Jānis Vītoliņa, Deputy Chairman Aigo Gūtmani, 1st Deputy Executive Director – Head of Ventspils City Council Administration Kaspars Wittenbergs and 1st Deputy Executive Director – Head of the Capital Management Department Rita Ozoliņu, will visit the “Latvija” concert hall and the VIZIUM science center, as well as take part in the event to welcome Ventspils’ largest taxpayers.

On the other hand, the delegation from the Saeima, which will consist of the 14th Saeima deputy, chairman of the Saeima Sports subcommittee Dāvis Mārtiņš Daugavietis, deputy assistant Andis Bāliņš, member of the Saeima Education, Culture and Science Commission Ilze Vergina and member of the Saeima Education, Culture and Science Commission Sports Subcommittee Mārtiņš Daģis , will meet with the 1st Deputy Chairman of the Ventspils Municipal Council for Cooperation Affairs, Gunti Blumberga, Head of the Ventspils Sports Authority Dainas Paipala, Chairman of the Board of SIA “Olympic Centers “Ventspils”” Jurgis Liepājnieks and Director of Sports School “Spars” Matīs Graudiņas. During the visit, it is planned to visit Ventspils sports infrastructure facilities, incl. Sports hall “Centrs” weightlifting hall and 3×3 basketball court, Ventspils Water Adventure Park and sports facilities of the Olympic Center “Ventspils”, as well as meeting with the director of Ventspils State 1st Gymnasium Ieva Yurova.
