On Sunday, May 5, the sun is expected mostly in the first half of the day, the amount of clouds will increase during the day, reports the Center of Environment, Geology and Meteorology of Latvia.

In places in the western and central regions of the country, short-term rain is expected, which could be accompanied by thunder. A light wind will blow. During the day, the thermometer will rise to +17…+22 degrees, but the weather will be cooler on the coast of the bay and in the northern districts of Kurzeme, +11…+16 degrees there.

Forecasters remind that the UV index will still be moderately high at the end of the week, so prolonged stay in direct sunlight in the middle of the day and in the afternoon is not desirable.

At the beginning of the next week, the atmospheric pressure will decrease – on Monday and on the night of Tuesday, the amount of clouds will increase and rain is expected in most of the territory, it will be long in some places, strong in some places, thunderstorms are also expected.

LVĜMC notes that after that the precipitation will stop for a few days and it is expected only in certain districts. But in the second half of the week, a cyclone will approach the territory of Latvia again, bringing rain for several days in most parts of the country.

A colder air mass will flow into the territory of the country with the north wind, thus the air temperature will gradually decrease. During the day, the air will warm up to +6…+13 degrees in most parts of the country, but in the dark hours of the day, the air temperature will drop to the 0 degree mark and below in some areas, so there is a possibility that strong frosts may form on the top layer of the grass in some places.
