Having received the permission of the Competition Council, one of Latvia’s leading wood industry companies “Stiga RM” plans to complete the acquisition of the sawmill “Norupe” of SIA “Rīgas meži” in order to build a new, technologically advanced production plant in the place of the existing sawmill within the next few years, where the wood obtained in Latvia will be processed in high value export products.

“The approval of the Competition Council will allow us to complete the organizational work and start implementing the plan for the creation of a new production plant. We see a significant development potential for this place in order to continue to purposefully develop the production of high added value products in Latvia. There is a lot of work ahead, as the production plant will be built from scratch, but we have accumulated good experience, and this will be the third “Stiga RM” factory in Latvia. We continue to persevere in our goal of using domestic wood wisely, adding high value to it and creating modern, sustainable and environmentally friendly products,” says Andris Ramoliņš, owner of “Stiga RM”.

The development of the production facility in Ogre will be the company’s first step outside the Kurzeme region. A convenient location, the necessary infrastructure and the availability of communications are a good basis for the creation of a new engineering wood products production plant, promoting the development of the Latvian woodworking industry.

Currently, “Stiga RM” owns one of the most modern birch plywood production plants in the Baltics, which has been successfully operating in Kuldīga for more than ten years, while a high-tech acoustic particleboard production plant is being built in Tukum, which will start its operation in 2025.
