Among them, Ziemele mentioned that the number of foreign tourists in Latvia is increasing. “It is much better than last summer and the whole year in general,” she said, adding that according to the announcement of the tour operators, this year there are more reservations from distant countries as well.

“People make more spontaneous choices about travel. It is not easy for small rural entrepreneurs who have to plan, if only to be able to prepare breakfast in the morning,” said Ziemele.

She also pointed out that competition in the industry has significantly increased since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The goal of “Rural Traveler” is the development of rural tourism in Latvia in the context of the overall rural economy, in cooperation with agriculture, local government, nature protection and other sectors. “Rural traveler” represents the interests of its members, is involved in the creation of policies favorable to entrepreneurs, serves as a professional information forum and a marketing platform.
