At 2:17 p.m., a call was received to the 1st cross line of Jaunciems in Riga, where the first floor of an unmanaged two-story building with an area of ​​80 square meters (m2), the covering of the second floor with an area of ​​10 m2 and the roof with an area of ​​5 m2 were on fire. The total burning area was 95 m2. A firefighter was injured during the extinguishing work. At 6:05 p.m., this high-danger fire was extinguished.

At 7:49 p.m. VUGD received a call to Mazo Stacijas Street in Riga, Dzirciema neighborhood, where a 20 m2 room was on fire in the second floor apartment of a five-story residential building. Firefighters rescued one person who was injured in the incident from the second floor. He was transferred to the Emergency Medical Service (EMS). Another person and a cat were rescued from the fifth floor using a rescue mask. Before the arrival of VUGD, five people evacuated from the building. At 9:10 p.m., this high-risk fire was extinguished.

At 12:04, VUGD received a call to Riebiņi Parish, Preiļu County, where diesel fuel was leaking into the river from the farm collector. Firefighters and rescuers set up absorbent pads at the scene. Employees of the State Environmental Service also worked alongside.

At 2:20 p.m., firefighters and rescuers went to Zemgale Street in Olaine, where 1 m2 of paper was burning in the apartment on the first floor of a five-story residential building. 20 people were evacuated from the building. At 3:15 p.m., the burning was extinguished.

At 10:51 p.m., a call was received to Akmeņu Street in Riga, where a 0.1 m2 area of ​​unattended food was burning in an apartment on the second floor of a six-story residential building. Firefighters rescued one person from the smoke-filled apartment, who was handed over to the EMS. At 11:31 p.m., the work at the scene ended.

In the past 24 hours, from Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. to Thursday at 6:30 a.m., VUGD received a total of 44 calls – 12 for firefighting, 22 for rescue work, but ten calls turned out to be misleading.
