Jelgava choirs sang spring

On Sunday, April 28, at 2 p.m., the Jelgava county choir concert “Sing spring” will be held at the Jelgava State Gymnasium. Those interested are invited to listen to choir performances free of charge.

In two parts of the concert, each choir sang three songs by Latvian authors from their repertoire. Listeners will hear covers of Latvian folk songs as well as songs by popular Latvian composers, including Imantas Kalniņas, Raimonds Paulas, Raimonds Tigula, Jānis Lūsēnas and other composers.

In total, 12 Jelgava county choirs will sing in this concert – eight Jelgava choirs, three Jelgava county choirs and one choir from Olaine county.

Six mixed choirs from Jelgava will participate: “Zemgale” (conductor Guntis Pavilons), “Mītava” (conductor Raimonds Gulbis), “Tik and ta” (conductor Guntis Galiņš), “Balti” (conductors Maija and Āriks Brankas), Jelgava Latvian Society Choir “Apkärt Latvijai” (conductor Jolanta Skurstene), Jelgava 4th High School Mixed Choir “Rotā” (conductors Līga Celma Kursiete, Krista Delvere, Ingus Leilands), as well as Latvian University of Biosciences and Technologies Men’s Choir “Ozols” (conductor Guntis Galiņš) and women’s choir “Liepa” (conductor Inta Zakenfelde).

Two mixed choirs “Vilce” (conductor Agnese Šulce) and “Svīri” (conductor Farhads Stade) from Jelgava region will take part in the concert, women’s choir “Zaļuguns” (conductor Guntra Minkevica), while from Olaine region the mixed choir “Dziesma” (conductor Normunds Cherry).
