Marshall Gilkes is Grammy award-nominated, American trombonist and composer who has gained recognition as an outstanding and versatile jazz musician. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music with the world’s best music educators, and was also Thelonius Monk finalist of the international competition of jazz musicians. His distinctive sound and innovative approach to the trombone have made him a sought-after performer on both the traditional and contemporary jazz scene. Jilks has performed and collaborated with such musicians as Maria Schneider (Maria Schneider), Edmar Castaneda (Edmar Castañeda), the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Duke Ellington Jazz Orchestra and many others, proving his virtuosity and versatility. Currently, Gilks also plays trombone in the core lineup of the world-famous WDR Big Band
